Must Haves for the Perfect Spring RV Trip

Gear Tips and Tricks

Spring is almost here!  We’re about to get Big Lou back from the shop (nothing really wrong, it’s just warranty work being done).  And once he’s back, the weather looks nice enough to de-winterize him.  In the meantime, I’m getting everything prepped at home so we can get out on our first vacation of the year. I’m washing linens, piling up toiletries, and deciding where we want to go first.

The perfect Spring RV trip isn’t just about getting the RV de-winterized and cleaning everything.  It’s about having everything you need for a fun, comfortable road trip.  Here’s what’s on my list:

-A space heater.  Evenings and mornings are still chilly where we are.  The Honeywell Cool Touch Heater is a good option (and similar to ours).  It has a thermostat- so it’ll turn off before it gets too hot,  and it’s safe around pets and kids.  Plus- you’ll save your propane by not needing to turn on your furnace.  Extra blankets and warm PJs are a good idea, too.

-Fire starters.  After being stuck inside during the cold winter nights, we plan on sitting around the fire every evening.  Don’t forget to bring marshmallows and all the other fixings for your favorite s’mores.

-Rain jackets- you never know when those Spring showers will hit.  I love a good, lightweight rain jacket with a hood.  Boots, extra sneakers and clothes, and an extra towel to wipe down the doggies are necessary, too!  You don’t want to be stuck inside just because it’s rainy or muddy.

-Card and board games are great year round, but if you don’t usually pack them, you should to avoid cabin fever if the weather does turns too rainy.  For very young kids Candyland and matching games are best, but my preschooler and 1st grader love Connect 4 and Uno Card Game.

-Movies.  I love family movie nights.  I don’t care if we’re on vacation or at home, I love snuggling up with my boys and watching a FAMILY movie (if you haven’t read my post from my other blog about the perfect family movie night, you can see it here).  My favorite movies to watch in the Spring time are The Quiet Man with John Wayne, Big Fish with Ewan McGregor, and The Secret Garden.

And last, but not least, a perfect, never-ending playlist you can sing along with for on the road. Since we use Spotify, all these songs can be found on there.
